The Third Northwest Internet Forum was held in Saint Petersburg from November 10-th through 15th, 2004. Representatives of the Internet community of the Northwest, public authorities, commercial companies engaged in information programs and construction of information systems, and also heads of IT-divisions of large enterprises and foreign experts have taken part in this forum.
A number of reports was presented at the plenary session. Among them there was a report The New Informatization Stage in the Republic of Karelia by the Vice Rector of Petrozavodsk State University on Informatization, the Coordination Council on Informatization at the Head of the Republic of Karelia Deputy Chairman Natalya Ruzanova.

The second important event traditionally held within the framework of the Northwest Internet Forum is summarizing competition of Internet resources of the region and awarding winners in several nominations. The competition jury has awarded three Karelian resources developed by the Regional Centre of New Information Technologies of Petrozavodsk State University.
The Official Government Site of the Republic of Karelia has won the nomination The State and Political Site, and The site of the Museum of Fine Arts of the RK presented by the Museum employees has won the nomination The Region Culture and History. The second place in this nomination was awarded to the Internet project Our City History: Time, Events, People.
