The quartet of Russian folk instruments Exprompt became the winner of 17th FOLKHERBST international competition in Germany.
For the first time in history of the competition the first premium called Eisernen Eversteiner will go to Karelia. FOLKHERBST is a set of musical events, competitive auditions and concerts within the scope of one international festival as a result of which the best ensemble or soloist living in territory of Europe receives the unique in Germany European premium of Eisernen Eversteiner for playing of traditional music of his or her people. The Eisernen Eversteiner trophy (a bronze figurine) owes its name to the history of Malzhause, one of the oldest town structures, built by the Earl of Eversteiner (now Malzhause is a symbol of the town of Plauen where the competition is held).
According to German musical critics, - «The bright ensemble play and fascinating virtuosic passages have won the admiration of experienced German public. Four musicians of the Exprompt quartet from Petrozavodsk (including Alexey Kleshchenko, balalaika; Olga Kleshchenko, domra; Mikhail Totsky, bayan; Evgeny Tarasenko, bass-balalaika), among many other participants from different countries, performed the fourth in the general competitive program. Musicians have played a brilliant cocktail of music of various genres which goes far beyond the frameworks of traditional Russian folk music.
Alongside with their own arrangements, the musiciand have played tango, swing, movie soundtracks and famous classic hits from Mozart to Rossini. To such musical fireworks the jury has unanimously replied with voting in favour of the Exprompt.
On February 20 (Friday) at 6:00 p.m. in the Noble Assembly Hall there will pass a presentation concert the Exprompt ensemble devoted to its victory in the international competition in Germany.
