By the order of the Minister of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Karelia Alexander Balashov is assigned the post of the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development of the RK since November 24, 2009.
Alexander Balashov headed the V.A.Baranov Republican Hospital State Healthcare Institution since July 2002. Alexander Balashov is the Doctor of Medicine, Full Professor, Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation, National Doctor of the Republic of Karelia. He is the author of more than 200 scientific publications in the national and foreign press. Under Alexander Balashov's direction and his direct participation in Karelia there have been introduced modern complex programs for treatment of lymphogranulomatosis and malignant lymphoma, the republican target program of cardiac surgery development was launched, the Regional Vascular Center was founded and is operating.
Elissan V. Shandalovich who was employed in the position of the head physician of Medvezhiegorsk Central Regional Hospital is appointed to the post of the the head physician the V.A.Baranov Republican Hospital State Healthcare Institution.
