Concerts of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Karelian State Philarmonic Society in Finland were a success

In November Helsinki, Tampere, Savonlinna, Kajani, Imatra and Salo enjoyd concerts of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Karelian State Philarmonic Society conducted by Marius Stravinsky, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director. Julia Zamyatina performed with the Karelian orchestra. Concerts were organized at the support of the Finland - Russia friendship society within the scope of the orchestra's tour on six cities of Finland. Performances of the orchestra with the soloist Julia Zamyatina, winner of International and All-Russian competitions, were a success.

At the same time Savonlinna hosted session of a supervising group of the Cultural Tourism Corridor of Karelia international project in which Galina Brun, Minister of Culture of Karelia, has taken part. The session discussed results of the project within which scope the Ballet Festival in Savonlinna was held in summer and where the Musical Theatre of Karelia presented the Romeo and Juliet performance, and the Woman as a Champagne tour of the Finnish mini-opera to Petrozavodsk. Within this project the partner network of establishments of culture and travel agencies of Kareliya and Savonlinna is being formed, complex tourist packages are being developed, study trips to Finland for managers of culture of the republic and visit of representatives of German and Finnish travel companies to Karelia have been organized.

The Center of Innovations Savonlinna prepares an application for continuation of the project in 2010 – 2011. The Karelian party has offered the following activities within the framework of the project:

  • Ballet Festival in Savonlinna in 2010 with A Mid-Summer Night's Dream new ballet production of the Musical Theatre of the RK;
  • International Ballet Festival in Petrozavodsk in 2010 at participation of actors from Nordic countries;
  • Festival of Karelian culture under the working title of the New Karelia on showcases of Helsinki in February, 2011 where the latest achievements of professional art of the republic may be presented: modern ballet and opera performancesof the Musical Theatre of the RK; performances of the National Theatre of the RK; programs of the Kantele State Ensemble of Dance and Song of Karelia and the exhibition of modern Karelian artists' works.

Decision on the further financing the project will be made in February, 2010.
