Presentation of the project of construction of Besovets international airport took place at the session of the State Commission for preparation for the 100th anniversary of Karelia

Key investment projects able to influence development of the region as a whole were presented within the scope of the session of the State Commission for preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia held in Petrozavodsk on December, 17.

One of such projects is construction of Besovets international airport. Yegor Solomatin, Deputy Director General for Investments and Transport of Sindika Holding Company, has told about the details of the project at the session of the State Commission.

Development of Besovets will take two directions. Reconstruction of the taxitrack, the apron and the aircraft parking positions, and construction of the emergency depot are preformed within the Federal Target Program Development of Transport System of Russia. According to Yegor Solomatin, the new apron will enable serving and accommodation of four C class airplanes, such as Boeing 737, and one airplane of E class like Airbus A321.

The second sphere for development of the new airport will be building of a new airport passenger terminal.

– We expect that upon commissioning of a new airport passenger terminal its total throughput capability will exceed 500,000 passengers a year, – Yegor Solomatin has told.

Inspection of object of Besovets airport has been accomplished already. The next stage will be development of a master plan that will provide a background for the engineering research. Start-up of the new airport complex, as estimated by Yegor Solomatin, is scheduled for the beginning of the summer of 2017.

Simultaneously with implementation of plans of construction of airport buildings the company is negotiating air travel development. In particular, in the future it is planned to make the flight from Petrozavodsk to Moscow routine and change its timetable for the convenience of passengers. Negotiations with Pobeda, Aeroflot's Low-Cost Airline are also in progress. In summer season it will be possible to establish up to 3-4 charter flight directions for tourists.

– By the anniversary of the Republic of Karelia the world-class air-terminal complex will be built near Petrozavodsk, – representative of Sindika Holding Company has told at the session of the State Commission.
