The meeting of the Karelian Government supervised by Yuri Averyanov examined implementation of decisions of the State Commission for preparation for the Republic's 100th anniversary in the field of communications. Before the meeting Yuri Averyanov visited several organizations and institutions where they use or are getting ready for implementation of new information and communication technologies.
Yuri Averyanov paid a lot of attention to analysis of new opportunities opening after implementation of telemedicine.
The representative of the Security Council took part in the telebridge with Kalevala regional hospital while visiting the Children's Republican Hospital.
Doctors from Kalevala were consulted by the leading doctors from Petrozavodsk in taking care of a prematurely born baby.
According to representatives of the Children's Republican Hospital, telemedical communications in Karelia have been established with all central district hospitals.
In their turn, parents of little patients in Petrozavodsk can be consulted by doctors from federal clinics. In the course of consultation from a distance it is possible
to transmit roentgenograms, cardiograms, results of tests and analyses using communications channels. More than half a hundred telebridges are arranged in the Children's
Republican Hospital during the year.

As Yuri Averyanov said, it is required to strive for connection of not only republican and regional hospitals to high-speed communications channels but also medical and
obstetric stations in rural settlements at the next stage of telemedicine's development.
"Implementation of decisions of the State Commission for preparation for the Republic's 100th anniversary is directed to improvement of quality of providing universal
communications services, including high-speed Internet access. Use of modern information and communication technologies will allow implementing new forms of servicing the people.
First of all, this is telemedicine," Yuri Averyanov said at the meeting.
In the course of the working visit of the First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia other areas where implementation of modern technologies and kinds
of communications is beneficial to people, were also discussed. Yuri Averyanov was shown the use of the GLONASS system in the First Aid Hospital in Petrozavodsk,
development of the Safe City system in the city administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The representative of the Security Council visited the Karelian
office of Rostelecom Company, familiarized himself with the plans for reforming the Karelian administration of Federal Post's operation, checked up the actions of
employees of the Emergency Control Center of the Karelian administration of the EMERCOM in the course of a drill.
