Today, on February 21st, Evgeny Vasilyev, a workboat with reinforcements for ice, was launched during a festive ceremony at the Onego Shipbuilding Yard.
Artur Parfenchikov, the Acting Head of Karelia, came to congratulate the corporate team on this significant event. His father used to work with Evgeny
Olegovich Vasilyev, whose name is now given to the ship.
Evgeny Olegovich Vasilyev is a prominent manager of water transport in the Republic, and was awarded various orders and medals. During the years of his leadership
of the White Sea and Onega Shipping Company, production facilities were established in the capital of Karelia, and now the construction of ships is resumed there.
The name of this remarkable person was given to a workboat with reinforcements for ice built in Petrozavodsk. It just so happened that the festive event became at
the same time very personal for Artur Parfenchikov, the Acting Head of Karelia.
"Today, after a long break, I returned to the area where my school years took place, and where I grew up. My father, Oleg Antonovich Parfenchikov, worked all his
life at the White Sea and Onega shipping company. He was assisting Evgeny Olegovich. I grew up with this last name and I remember it well," said Arthur Parfenichkov.
According to the Acting Head of the Republic, the launch of a new vessel into the water should become another step towards the revival of the glory of Petrozavodsk as a
"port of five seas."
Evgeny Vasilyev is already the fourth vessel in the line of iceboats built after the activities on the plant were resumed. Now the Petrozavodsk shipyard fulfills the
orders of the largest federal enterprise Rosmorport for the construction of two more workboats and three mud boats, and is carrying out various renovation works.
Sergey Kurov, Deputy General Director of FSUE Rosmorport, said that cooperation with the Onego Shipbuilding Yard will continue:
"Today, passing through the operating departments of this remarkable shipyard, once again I saw something that cheers the heart of any citizen of the Russian Federation.
The basis of our country is where young people work. We are expecting the shipyard to fulfill new orders. We need to update our fleet."
Vladimir Mayzus, the Director of the Shipyard, thanked everyone who participated in the construction of the new boat and the rebuilding of the enterprise, as well as the relatives
of Evgeny Vasilyev who attended the ceremony.
According to tradition, a vessel gets a godmother before launching into water. Irina Shabalina, the member of the Ministry of Economic Development and Industry of the Republic,
who was honored to be the godmother of the iceboat, broke a bottle of champagne by the shipboard.
The vessel is 22 meters long and six meters wide and it will work on the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal. Before that the boat will be tested on trial trips and harbor testing,
and then it will be the transited to the permanent place of operation.
