On July 12, the opening ceremony of a fish feed plant was held. The introduction of such products in Russia will allow for solving the task of import substitution. Ilya Shestakov, the Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery and Artur Parfenchikov, the Acting Head of Karelia, spoke about the potential of the work and development of the enterprise.
The new plant for the production of fish feed is located near Petrozavodsk. The enterprise belongs to the company Karelian Fish Farms-Korma LLC. The whole complex of equipment was installed at the facility, and commissioning was launched. The volume of private investments is 65 million rubles.
The importance of foundation of such an enterprise cannot be overestimated. At present, fish farms of the Republic are using fish feed of foreign producers. In addition, the volume of commercial fish production in Karelia is 20-23 thousand tons per year, which requires the uninterrupted supply of high-quality fish feed. Ilya Shestakov, the Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery, who came to the Republic on a working visit, said that the products of the new plant will be in demand in other regions of Russia..
“In fact, this is the first enterprise that will produce feed for trout farms in such volumes. It is very important for us, because now all the feed is imported from European countries. And, of course, this will allow, first of all, to reduce the cost of production of trout, and, secondly, to increase independence in this field and create competition in the market. If the declared plans come true, it will be a fairly powerful large enterprise, which, in general, will be able to cover up to 50% of the market for trout feeds,” said Ilya Shestakov.
The company Karelian Fish Farms-Korma LLC has already developed a product line. The samples of feed were received and analyzed, potential ingredient suppliers were selected and preliminary agreements on prices and terms of delivery were concluded.
After the debugging of technological processes, the production of up to 2500 tons of fish feeds per year is planned, with the possibility of increasing this number up to 12 thousand tons.
Artur Parfenchikov, the Acting Head of Karelia, defined the priority directions of development of this industry in the Republic.
“Now 70% of the trout market in the Central Federal District is Karelian trout. We are able to solve more ambitious tasks, providing not only the CFD, but also other territories of Russia with high-quality fish products. There is a task, on a parallel track, to enter the markets not only in Russia, but also abroad, so far Russia's neighboring states; the work with Armenia and Kazakhstan is planned,” said the Head of the Republic.
The Acting Head of Karelia also emphasized the necessity of constant monitoring of the produced feed. The second stage of the enterprise development provides for the creation of its own laboratory complex to monitor the quality of the products and incoming raw materials. The laboratory will allow for determining such elements of feed as crude protein, fat, protein, phosphorus, macronutrients, amino acids, vitamins, and organic acids.
"We intend to provide full support, including compensating a number of
costs to shareholders, so that this laboratory could appear as soon as
possible and serve not only this enterprise, but also the interests of our
other fish farms," stressed Artur Parfenchikov.
