17 BelAZ vehicles were assembled at the “Karelsky Okatysh” plant in Kostomuksha
Agreement on the quarry dump trucks assembly was reached by the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov with the Belarusian side at the “Karelforum-2023” exhibition in Petrozavodsk. A total of 27 vehicles are expected to be assembled.
The landmark project implementation - assembly of heavy-duty BelAZ dump trucks – was begun by “Karelsky Okatysh” in 2023. Its impetus was the forum of stone processors, which took place in the republic. During its work, the Belarusian company “BelAZ” and the “Karelsky Okatysh” enterprise signed a corresponding agreement.
The machines that the company specialists assemble today have substituted similar equipment from the manufacturer that left the Russian market in 2022. The contract with the Belarusian side was concluded for 27 vehicles, 17 of them are already assembled. Maxim Vorobyov, the General Director of the AO “Karelsky Okatysh”, spoke about this.
The BelAZ trucks are delivered to the plant disassembled. Here they are assembled by car mechanics, electricians, and welders.
- Together with the Belarusian partners, we are forming our own fleet of heavy-duty equipment. This is the response to the sanctions pressure exerted by the West. We are developing our technological sovereignty, which the President of the country Vladimir Putin speaks about. The dump truck assembly project is an example of such sovereignty, - emphasized the Head of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, after visiting the site of the “Karelian Okatysh” enterprise.
