A seaweed processing plant will be launched near Kondopoga in 2025

This was reported at a meeting on the Kondopozhsky district social and economic development chaired by the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov.

The company “Biomeditsinskiye Innovatsionnyie Tekhnologii” continues to implement a major investment project to build a plant in Berezovka in the Kondopozhsky district. The new production site is planned to produce sports and baby food, dietary supplements, and cosmetics with addition of the White Sea algae. The production is planned to be launched this year. 80 new jobs will be created.

- The production equipment has already been purchased. Its installation will begin in the near future. By September 2025, the plant will begin operating, - said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia for Economic Affairs Oleg Ermolaev.

It was also reported at the online meeting that the plant building is being constructed under a concession agreement. It means that the ownership of the real estate will belong to the republic.

The head of Karelia emphasized that this is a unique production site that will have a synergistic effect on the region industry. The entrepreneurs are transferring production of related materials to the Kondopozhsky district.

The plant is designed to process 500 tons of algae, but our production capabilities are tens of times greater. The prospects for the plant development are very extensive due to the large reserve of undeveloped resources, Artur Parfenchikov said during the online meeting.

The production launch will allow at times to increase harvesting of the White Sea algae and thus provide additional jobs in the north of the republic.

As the head of the region noted, there is also the prospect of building new seaweed processing plants in other regions of Karelia.
