It was announced by the Head of the Republic Artur Parfenchikov, commenting on the results of the region’s participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

At the SPIEF site, the Karelia delegation held meetings, business negotiations and signed 14 agreements on cooperation and implementation of investment projects in various fields. All of them will contribute to the republic development, create new jobs and ensure the flow of taxes to the regional budget.

– For most projects, work has already begun or will begin in the coming months. The largest of them is the construction of the resort “Vereyar” with an investment volume of 21 billion rubles. In general, investments in the republic economy will amount to more than 30 billion rubles, – said Artur Parfenchikov.

In terms of the investment climate, Karelia is one of the best regions. In the National Rating of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Karelia retained its high position, taking the 12th place.

– The government of the republic will work on all positions of the rating in order to adjust and further improve the work. Many thanks to our business, entrepreneurs who, with their work and projects, helped achieve such a high result, – said the head of the region.

As part of the SPIEF - 2024, the Beloporozhsk HPPs were also launched. The large-scale project was the first in the country to be financed by the allocation of resources by the New Development Bank, created by the BRICS countries. The opening of the HPPs is of great importance both for Karelia and the country as a whole in terms of its energy system development.
