100th Anniversary of Karelia: Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a new version of the Federal Program targeted at Karelia

On November 10, a new version of the Federal Targeted Program "Development of the Republic of Karelia until 2020" was signed by Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The new document implies the implementation of a number of projects for the development of transport, energy, social, housing and communal infrastructure in virtually every region of the Republic within the next three years. These projects cover the construction of facilities in the civilian sector of the Petrozavodsk Besovets Airport, kindergartens in the villages of Ilyinsky and Lyaskela, blocks A and B of the hospital on Lesnoy Avenue of Drevlyanka district in Petrozavodsk, reconstruction of Karelia's National Museum, construction and reconstruction of sewage treatment plants, as well as the construction of a gas distribution network in various districts of the Republic.

Implementation of investment projects for the development of mining and forestry industries, vehicles and metallurgy production, the development of generating capacities, as well as implementing measures to improve transport logistics, freight and passenger traffic by road, sea, rail and air transport within the framework of the Federal Target Program will create a solid basis for the economic development of Karelia.

The total amount of funding from the federal budget from 2018 to 2020 will amount to approximately 9 billion rubles.
