New crab boat “Alexander Sapozhnikov” was launched in Karelia
On December 13, the crab fishing vessel “Alexander Sapozhnikov” was launched at the Onego Shipyard in Petrozavodsk. The launch ceremony was attended by the representatives of the republican authorities, the company “Russkii Krab”, and the shipyard managers and employees. With the support of the State Commission for the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Karelia, the Government of the Republic, Nikolai Patrushev personally, and the Head of the Region Artur Parfenchikov, the Onego Shipyard was provided with an order to build crab fishing vessels. The first of the series of vessels was laid down on the Day of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic in 2020.
Today, the fourth crab boat of the CCa5712LS series, ordered by the GK “Russkii Krab” from Onego Shipyard as part of the first stage of the investment quota program, was launched. The vessel is designed for catching and transporting live crab in the waters of the Bering, Okhotsk and Japanese seas. It is named after Alexander Sapozhnikov, who headed the GK “Russkii Krab” until 2024.
- Aleksandr Sapozhnikov often said that even the most perfect vessels are just metal, but they are filled with life by people's attitude to work. The crab boats built at the Onego plant have already proven their efficiency in fishery and confirmed their compliance with the design specifications. It is an objective evidence of the high quality of work, professionalism and responsibility of the shipbuilders, - said Dmitry Sapov, the Deputy General Director for construction of the new fleet of the GK “Russkii Krab”.
The Director of the AO “OSSZ” Vladimir Maizus expressed gratitude to the shipyard team for their work and contribution to implementation of the project to renew the country’s fishing fleet.
The crabbers differ from the vessels of the current fleet by their Ice2 ice class, the presence of a two-level hold for transporting live crab in stainless steel tanks, a doubled area of the fishing deck and the amount of fishing equipment, and modern engines. Among the innovative solutions incorporated into the project is a telemetry system for monitoring the vessel parameters from the bridge and from the shore; the presence of a backup electric propulsion system, which guarantees the vessel speed at sea.
Let us recall that the Onego Shipyard was provided with an order for construction of crab catchers thanks to the support of the Government of Karelia, the state commission for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the republic, headed at that time by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and now the Assistant to the President of the country, the Chairman of the Marine Board Nikolai Patrushev. The first vessel was laid down on the Day of the 100th Anniversary of Karelia, at the same time production of a series of these vessels was launched in Petrozavodsk. Earlier, the crab catchers “Kapitan Aleksandrov”, “Kapitan Egorov” and “Kapitan Firsov” had already been launched in the capital of the republic. All of them became part of the new fishing fleet of Russia.
