The ban on attracting foreign citizens by business entities was cancelled in Karelia

On March 4, the Head of the Republic made a decision to cancel the Decree on the ban establishment introduced earlier in Karelia for 2022. The ban concerned involvement of the foreign citizens who worked in certain types of economic activity on the basis of patents.

This decision was made due to the changed economic conditions. Nevertheless and governed by existing law, the Government of the Republic of Karelia is carrying out methodical work to reduce the involvement of foreign workers by the employers of the republic. The measures taken are aimed at protecting the national labor market, creating conditions for priority employment of the Russian citizens and gradual replacement of foreign workers with the local labor resources.

It should be reminded that about 1100 foreign citizens are currently working in the Republic of Karelia on the basis of a patent.
