Petrozavodskmash began to produce equipment for the Chinese nuclear power plant Xudapu
The prospects for development of one of the largest enterprises of the machine-building industry in Russia were discussed on April 13 with the Head of Karelia.
During his visit to Petrozavodskmash, the head of the region, Artur Parfenchikov held a meeting to discuss the tax concession extension and the plant staffing.
The Petrozavodsk branch of AEM-Technology (the part of the machine-building division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, Atomenergomash and the Karelian regional branch of SoyuzMash of Russia) continues to work on international projects. The plant began manufacturing the main circulation pipeline for the Xudapu nuclear power plant in China. The technological process was started in the presence of the Head of the Republic.
According to the director of Petrozavodskmash Pavel Marchenko, the enterprise completed 2020 successfully and with good financial performance. Compared to 2019, the revenue increased by almost 30%. The number of jobs also increased. Now the plant employs more than 1,300 workers.
- We are at the final stage of implementing the investment program to increase the productivity of Petrozavodskmash production facilities. The volume of investments in the fixed assets in 2019-2020 reached 950 million rubles, noted Pavel Marchenko. We are grateful to the Government of the Republic of Karelia for support in our investment plans implementation in the form of a tax benefit, a reduced property tax rate.
The grace period ends in 2021. For further investment in Petrozavodskmash, which is planned by AEM-Technology, it is necessary to extend the tax breaks. The investment program designed for three years suggests allocation of up to 400 million rubles annually and an increase in the number of jobs.
- The offer itself is vitally important for people living here, who understand what Petrozavodskmash is. Naturally, both taxes and investments will grow. What we have done in three years must be continued. This is important for the republic and for the country, said Artur Parfenchikov.
The Head of the Republic gave instructions to study the issue of extending the tax benefits for Petrozavodskmash to the republican ministries of economic development and finance.
Another task is to attract specialists to the plant. Now the company has 78 vacancies. As the director of Petrozavodskmash emphasizes, the management is interested in attracting local workers who commit their future to the republic.
The average salary at the enterprise is about 60 thousand rubles. Petrozavodskmash is ready to improve the skills of new employees. Based at the enterprise, the center for the assessment of qualifications in mechanical engineering has been created, the production site for training and the industrial chair of Petrozavodsk University are functioning. Petrozavodskmash joined the all-Russian campaign “The Week without Turnstiles” which is now taking place in Karelia. Its participants from among schoolchildren and students can see the work of enterprises “inside and out” while attending fam tours.
The Head of Karelia has instructed the Ministry of Education and the Department of Labor and Employment to help Petrozavodskmash in career guidance and retraining of the specialists for the plant.
