Nikolay Patrushev, Alexander Gutsan and Artur Parfenchikov launched the equipment of the new digital shipyard of the Onego Shipyard

Owing to the modernization, the Onego Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant will become the country's leading center for ship production.

Today, the main technological equipment was put into operation at the digital shipyard of the Onego Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. The Aide to the President of Russia Nikolai Patrushev together with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan and the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov waved the green flag on the launch. The metal cleaning and painting line was the first to be launched. At the same time, the technological equipment began operating in other production bays of the block.

The system installed at the digital shipyard will help quickly identify raw materials, blanks and parts. This will improve the efficiency of supply management, personnel, and supply plans. Labor productivity will increase by at least 2 times. The number of ships under construction will increase from 3 to 10 per year.

As the Head of Karelia noted, the first digital shipyard in Russia is a unique complex where machines and materials are connected into a single environment. The new production site is supposed to be a model for other enterprises in the shipbuilding industry.

It is the final stage of the first phase of the plant thorough modernization.

- When the plant starts working at full capacity, we will see a modern enterprise of the world level. But today, we can already say that all the products that will be manufactured here are of a very high quality. They will be manufactured in a much shorter time. The number of ships will increase at least threefold, - said Nikolay Patrushev. - We will spread this experience to other shipbuilding enterprises.

The plant plans to create about 500 additional jobs. With the support of the Government of Karelia, work is underway to provide personnel for the new shipyard.

- We have created a special department in our technical school. The competition is high. Today, the first graduates are already coming to work at the plant. The plans include creating a training center in Petrozavodsk. We will have a shipyard as well as a center of competence for digital shipbuilding, - said Artur Parfenchikov.

A large-scale project for deep production modernization was launched in 2019 and is being implemented on behalf of the President of Russia. 5.8 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget for these purposes. The plant expenses for connecting its capacities to electrical networks and a centralized cold water supply system in the amount of 200 million rubles were fully financed by the Karelian budget. Gas was supplied to the plant to ensure the engineering and technological equipment operation.

In addition, a decision has already been made to allocate almost two billion rubles from the reserve fund of the Government of the Russian Federation for the second stage of the project for deep modernization of the production capacities of the shipyard. The implementation of the project today became the main topic of the meeting with the participation of the Head of Karelia. It is planned to build an automated complex of ship equipment, as well as modernize the open slipway and the slipway for launching and lifting ships.
