Karelia started preparation for the international forum on stone processing

Russian and foreign products will be presented at the exhibition site with an emphasis on Karelian stone. There will also be panel discussions with the participation of federal ministries and leading enterprises in the sector. The authorities of the region plan to hold the forum annually.

On Thursday, the head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov held a meeting in the industrial park for stone processing “Yuzhnaya Promzona”. He discussed the work of the enterprise, as well as preparations for the upcoming forum with the management.

Today, the technopark's products are aimed at the domestic market. More and more orders are coming in. At the end of 2021, the total turnover of the residents' funds should have been at least 120 million rubles. This indicator was exceeded by three times.

The technopark management plans to almost double the production site by reconstructing the warehouses. So far, 100 people have been employed here, but by the end of the year, another 50 jobs will be created without taking into account the expansion.

The demand for the technopark services is largely associated with the modern equipment as its main advantage. The machinery installed there is not available at any enterprise in the republic, a part of it is rare even for Russia. There are no difficulties with the maintenance of the foreign machines. The employees independently regulate them, using the support of the equipment suppliers online.

“This is one of the most successful projects for creation of technoparks in Russia. We have equipped it with the most modern equipment and we understand that it is necessary to continue development. Stone is our history, our heritage. We want to be a production as well as an exhibition center. We have everything for that. The stone processing forum should be held annually so that Karelia becomes an all-Russian platform for products presentation and signing of contracts,” mentioned Artur Parfenchikov.

The industrial park for stone processing “Yuzhnaya Promzona” is a large-scale production which occupies almost 7 thousand square meters. Different products are produced here, but the focus is put on construction materials: curbs, paving slabs, full-sawn paving stones and slabs. They mainly use gabbro-diabase from the Drugoretsk deposit which is located 80 km from Petrozavodsk.

The idea of creating a technopark came to the Karelian authorities after the trip to China. A few years ago, the Ministry of Economic Development sent a delegation there to make the entrepreneurs acquainted with the foreign experience. In China, similar stone processing enterprises have existed for a long time and operate on an industrial scale.

The technopark was opened in 2020 with the support of the Ministry of Economics of Karelia. The authorities allocated 405 million rubles for its creation within the framework of the national project “Small and Medium Enterprises and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives”. Enterprises can rent premises and warehouses from the technopark at preferential prices, use the production infrastructure and other services at all stages of work. In addition, you can organize a full cycle of stone processing here including sawing, edging and polishing.
