A year-round hotel complex was built on the road to the Kizhi Museum-Reserve
On behalf of the Head of Karelia, the work on creation of the tourism infrastructure near the UNESCO sites continues in the territory of Zaonezhye. A modern year-round hotel complex “Zaonezhye”, was opened in the village of Kazhma (the Shungskoye rural settlement). It became the first large accommodation facility built after a new tourist route to the Kizhi Museum-Reserve appeared. During a working visit to the Medvezhegorsk District, the Head of Karelia got acquainted with the infrastructure of the new facility. The complex is focused on active recreation, including for families with children. The ecological trails for walking were equipped in its territory. In addition to the rooms, there are halls for sports activities and events. The main building has a restaurant and a library - some of the books are dedicated to the history and culture of Karelia. On behalf of the Head of the Republic Artur Parfenchikov, the tourism infrastructure of Zaonezhye, where the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Kizhi Architectural Ensemble and the Onego Petroglyphs are located, continues to be actively developed. The Medvezhyegorsk-Tolvuya-Velikaya Guba road was repaired and a new one was built from Velikaya Guba to Oyatevshchina. It is now possible to get from the village to Kizhi Island by ferry in 20 minutes. The renovated railway station in Medvezhyegorsk and electrification of the historical villages on the Zaonezhye Peninsula create additional opportunities for organizing recreation for the residents and guests of the republic. In the future, the Kizhi architectural ensemble and the Onego petroglyphs are planned to be connected by a new tourist route. This will ensure an influx of tourists and implement even more socially significant projects.
