Karelia and China will jointly produce drilling rigs

A memorandum of cooperation was concluded on the sidelines of “Karelforum – 2024”.

Petrozavodsk is hosting the third “Karelforum” in the history of the republic, a large-scale event in the field of stone mining and processing. Traditionally, many contracts and agreements are concluded at the event. Among them, there is the Memorandum of Cooperation between the companies from Karelia and China on implementation of a project for joint production of high-performance drilling machines. The document was signed by the director of the OOO “K-Diamant” (Republic of Karelia), Andrey Todua, and the representative of “CHICO MACHINE TECHNOLOGY” (People's Republic of China), Mr. Wang Subei.

– We are seriously working on import substitution of stone mining and stone processing equipment. Today, we signed an agreement with our Chinese partners. Together we are creating our own production of equipment intended for preliminary drilling, – noted the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov. – It is very important that this agreement is not based on just prospects: the first sample of equipment developed by our and the Chinese partners has already been presented at the exhibition.

At the international exhibition “Karelforum-2024”, they presented a model of the CHICO 22A rig, designed for drilling wells with a diameter of 25-45 mm in off-road conditions. It already outperforms European analogues in drilling speed, usability and ease of maintenance. It is reliable, and at the same time has a significantly lower cost. The installations are already successfully operating at the mining enterprises in Karelia and have positive reviews.

The drilling rigs will be used for quarrying and road construction work. The investments in the project amount to 200 million Chinese yuans and are targeted at manufacturing of 100 cars per year, a third of them are planned to be sold on the Russian market.
