A plant for production of composite decking boards is being built in Karelia

OOO “Krona” took advantage of the support program and plans to launch production of composite decking boards. Arthur Parfenchikov checked the progress of a new industrial facility construction.

The Government of the Republic of Karelia is interested in release of forestry products with high added value in the region, and therefore it is working on provision of additional support measures to the enterprises that implement deep wood processing projects.

One of such enterprises is OOO “Krona”. It produces various lumber: eurolining, shtil lining, imitation of timber, as well as fuel pellets, which it supplies to the largest retail chains in Russia.

The company plans to expand the range of products. This became possible thanks to implementation of the program of preferential financing of the forest industry projects by the Industrial Development Fund of the Republic of Karelia and the provision of a land plot on preferential terms by the regional Government.

The General Director of “Krona” Pavel Kuyllenen told Artur Parfenchikov about the plans for the company development.

– We are building a second plant where four manufacturing workshops will be located. Here, we will produce furniture panels, staircase elements, as well as composite decking boards. They are in great demand on the construction market. 75 jobs will be opened at the plant, the production area will occupy 6.5 thousand square meters. m, – said Pavel Kuyllenen.

Arthur Parfenchikov emphasized the importance of the government support for business in the face of sanctions pressure.

– “Krona” is one of the illustrative examples of reformatting of our woodworking industry, taking into account changing sales markets. Some imported products, including terrace boards, are no longer supplied to Russia. We supported the project by allocating a plot of land in accordance with the import substitution program, – noted the head of the region. – Our task is to process all harvested wood into the final product in the territory of the republic. We must give the opportunity to the residents of Karelia who want to build their houses to use high-quality building materials produced in our region.

The launch of the new “Krona” plant is scheduled for August 2024.
