The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Karelia will facilitate promotion of the regional products in the domestic and foreign markets

Its creation will not entail an increase in the number of civil servants.

The process of the Ministry of Industry and Trade creation has been launched in Karelia. The functions of implementing industrial policy and regulating trade, production and circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcohol and alcohol-containing products and promoting competition are transferred to the agency. The Ministry of Natural Resources will transfer to the new ministry the functions of conducting the state policy in the field of the timber industry, the Ministry of Agriculture - the functions in the field of food production, the Ministry of Construction - the functions in the field of building materials industry.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will carry out licensing and regional state supervision in the field of retail sales of alcohol and alcohol-containing products, develop a strategy for the timber industry complex development, promote voluntary forest certification to increase the competitiveness of timber products, and organize events to ensure schemes for the supply of wood raw materials to the regional processing enterprises.

The existing Ministry of Economic Development and Industry will be transformed into the Ministry of Economic Development.

Dmitry Rodionov, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic for Economic Affairs, emphasized that the division of the ministries spheres of activity was caused by the demand of the time and the need to work more closely with the federal center via similar federal ministries, namely, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Economic Development.

- The staff of the regional departments will not undergo any increase, 18 people will work in the new ministry. The functions between the two structures are clearly delineated and will allow the specialists to continue and improve their work in their respective areas, - said Dmitry Rodionov. - The main result of the transformation should be the timely made managerial decisions at the regional level on production and trade organization, promotion of the regional products in the domestic and foreign markets. The Ministry of Economic Development will continue close cooperation with business entities and investors to create even more comfortable conditions for their effective work in Karelia.

The documents for the ministry functioning will be prepared before September 1.
