Effectiveness of development of Karelia was noted at the meeting with the President of Russia
Owing to the effective use of the federal support, the republic left the ranks of outsiders in social and economic development. In recent years, Karelia has increased its average dynamics in investment growth by a third. The Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to develop measures to support regions that had shown effectiveness in using the government programs. He mentioned it at the meeting with the members of the Government of the Russian Federation on the results of implementation of the individual programs for social and economic development of regions (IPSEDR) and the plans for their extension for 2025-2030. The Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov took part in the meeting by videoconference.
The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov, made a report on the individual regional programs implementation. The individual programs have been in effect since 2020 in 10 regions where the unemployment and poverty levels were higher than the national average, and the income and investment indicators were lower. The programs were launched with the aim of creating new growth points and conditions for advanced development. Their validity period is 5 years.
According to the minister, a number of entities have significantly increased their dynamics in terms of investment growth. Karelia is among these leading regions. The republic increased this dynamics by a third.
– The joint work of the regional teams themselves and their supervisors played a big role, – said Maxim Reshetnikov. – Adygea and Karelia have significantly improved their social and economic indicators and left the top ten lagging regions. For Karelia, the Government has extended the federal target program till 2030.
Vladimir Putin thanked the IPSEDR participants for the work done and noted the regions that came out of the top ten lagging ones thanks to the IPSEDR, Karelia and Adygea. The President emphasized that “it is necessary to support those who have proven that they can work effectively.”
– We were active initiators of the IPSEDR program creation several years ago. Then we were not in the top ten, but in the top three of problem regions, – the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov noted during the meeting. – The IPSEDR is a universal mechanism. It contains activities that have helped us a lot. It include regulatory issues in the interests of the region and specific tasks for specific ministries and departments. Thank you so much for your support! The federal target program has been extended until 2030. We would like to apply the positive experience that we have gained within the framework of the IPSEDR to expand the tools of the federal target program.
In response to the proposal of the Head of Karelia, Vladimir Putin instructed to study the issue of using support measures similar to the IPSEDR within the framework of other state programs and national projects.
