The Republic of Karelia and the Zaporozhskaya Region signed a cooperation agreement
The Zaporozhskaya Region is the first of the new subjects of the Russian Federation which the Republic of Karelia has signed a cooperation agreement with.
Today, at the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov and the Acting Governor of the Zaporozhskaya Region Yevgeny Balitsky signed a cooperation agreement.
The document content covers the trade and economic spheres as well as the cultural and humanitarian areas of interaction between the two subjects of the Russian Federation.
On the eve of the agreement signing, Yevgeny Balitsky presented the economic potential of the region, spoke about the infrastructure of the region. Until 2025, the investments in the region economy should amount to 20 billion rubles, 190 industrial enterprises will be launched, and 9,200 jobs will be created.
In his speech, Arthur Parfenchikov emphasized that today Karelia is a dynamically developing region. For example, the fixed assets investments show annual growth, this figure was 78.7 billion rubles in 2021, and it increased to 95.6 billion rubles in 2022.
– The Republic of Karelia is interested in cooperation with the new subjects of the Russian Federation. In addition to trade and economic relations, we will develop contacts in the area of culture, education, healthcare, and others, – the head of the region said.
The head of Karelia especially noted the historical connection between the two regions.
– Zaporozhye and Karelia have long been linked by friendly and family relations. And common history, too. Our grandfathers and fathers fought the enemy together during the Great Patriotic War, rebuilt the destroyed cities together, restored the economy, – Arthur Parfenchikov summed up.
