Karelia is looking for new markets for sales of its products
The delegation of the region presented the export and investment potential of Karelia to the companies of the Arabian Peninsula. Seven Karelian companies took part in the business mission.
During the announcement of the annual Address to the Federal Assembly, the President of Russia set the task of expanding new logistics corridors and promising ties with the partners in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
In the context of anti-Russian sanctions, in 2022, the volume of exports of the Karelian products to other countries increased by 62% compared to 2021. Karelian companies have begun to focus more on the Asian direction. The exports to China and Iran increased significantly, the exports to Turkey almost doubled.
To continue this work, on February 27 and 28, the delegation of Karelia is performing a business mission to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The representatives of the business community of the Kingdom, the authorities of Manama, the companies that operate in all states of the Arabian Peninsula, the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic Alexander Chepik and the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rodionov presented the export and investment potential of Karelia, told about the measures to support investment activities.
The Director of the Development Corporation of Karelia Yevgeny Perov made the Bahraini entrepreneurs acquainted with a package of the investment projects in various fields of activity, which are most attractive for foreign investment and are almost guaranteed to pay off in the very near future. The event was attended by Alexei Skosyrev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Besides, the meetings between representatives of the Karelian companies of the timber industry complex and the Bahraini entrepreneurs in the field of construction, logistics, furniture production, and consulting were held.
As a result of the negotiations, the Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Karelia signed two agreements with the Bahraini company "LEOKOM", which conducts projects in the field of consulting, investment, export in the territory of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The council includes Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.
In general, each of the seven Karelian companies held about ten meetings with the Bahraini colleagues. The first points of mutual interest have already been outlined both in direct deliveries of goods and in interaction with the aim of further export of goods to the countries of the Persian Gulf and Southeast Asia.
On February 28, the delegation will hold official meetings at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the Association of the Businessmen of the country. The representatives of the Karelian companies will visit the enterprises that are ready to cooperate with producers in the region.
