100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia. It will take an hour to get from Petrozavodsk to Helsinki
Regular flights from Karelia to Finland will start in the spring. International air traffic is being resumed on behalf of the State Commission for the preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the republic.
Modern jet airliners “Bombardier CRJ-200” of “Severstal” Airlines will connect Petrozavodsk and Helsinki from the first decade of May to the end of the year. The flights between the capitals of Karelia and Suomi will be provided twice a week - on Monday and Friday. The travel time will be one hour. Thus, it will be convenient to get to Helsinki fourteen or fifteen times faster than by bus. The estimated cost of a flight ticket between the capitals of Karelia and Finland will be 5500 rubles.
It should be reminded, that the international air traffic from the capital of Karelia is resumed after a long break thanks to the joint work of the Government of Karelia and “Severstal” airline staff, carried out on behalf of the State Commission for preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the republic.
In the framework of the federal target program “Development of the Republic of Karelia until 2020”, the construction of a new terminal building continues in Petrozavodsk. The capacity of the complex will be 300 passengers per hour. The modern construction will provide a high level of passenger service that meets the Russian and international standards, as well as it will provide conditions for their comfortable and safe stay at the airport of the capital of Karelia. It is assumed, the existing building of Petrozavodsk airport terminal will be used as an international terminal after the airport complex construction completion.
